9 Day Kimberley Accommodated Tour

Your Outback Horizons guide will collect from your Broome accommodation in the morning and enjoy a coffee and breakfast. After enjoying breakfast, your Kimberley tour will begin, heading to Derby to see the Boab Prison Tree which is estimated to be 1000 years old. Following morning tea, we take a short drive to the Norval Aboriginal Art Gallery so you can peruse the exquisite pieces and learn about the traditional art history of this area.

Our next destination for the day is the Bell Gorge Wilderness Lodge. Please note, this is a suggested itinerary and can be changed to suit timing and/or road conditions and accommodation availability.

Following a relaxing breakfast, We take the short drive to Bell Gorge and we begin our hike to the falls. Eroded into the King Leopold Range, Bell Gorge is one of the most spectacular gorges in the Kimberley. Bell Creek cascades down through a series of falls and pools. There is plenty of time to enjoy a beautiful morning swim to cool down and explore the gorge.

Returning to the Bell Gorge Wilderness Lodge in the afternoon, you will have time to sit back, relax in your ultra comfortable safari tent and soak in the Kimberley atmosphere.

After enjoying breakfast overlooking the picturesque Kimberley landscape, we continue onto Galvans Gorge, our next hike and swim. This is a short walk off the road and a guest favourite! Following lunch and a stop at Mt Barnett, we continue onto the beautiful station grounds of Ellenbrae Station where you can enjoy a swim and indulge in afternoon tea.

We make our way back to re-join the Gibb River Road. Along the way we will be presented with fabulous views of the Kimberley and Cockburn Range.  Our journey continues to the thermal pools of Zebedee Springs at El Questro. Visiting the station for lunch before making our way to Emma Gorge and settling into your accommodation.

Highlights for today include an early morning swim and spectacular hike into Emma Gorge. This afternoon you will have the opportunity to either visit the historic township of Wyndham, catch up on laundry or simply relax on the grounds of El Questro. The choice is yours.

Following breakfast, enjoy an optional morning swim in Zebedee Springs again before we hit the road to the World Heritage Listed Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungles). The Bungle Bungle Range is renowned for its striking orange and grey horizontal banded domes. The distinctive beehive-shaped landforms have been produced by uplift and erosion over the last 20 million years.

Our evening will consist of a spectacular sunset viewing of the Bungle Bungle Ranges while enjoying a glass of Champagne and appetizers, before returning to our stunning wilderness lodge.

We begin by exploring the magnificent beehive formations of this World Heritage Listed with a hike into Cathedral Gorge and Piccaninny Creek Lookout. Up until 1983 the region was largely ‘undiscovered’. Prior to 1983 only local Aboriginal people and a handful of stockmen knew of the area and in 1987 it became a National Park.

An unforgettable scenic helicopter flight is available as an option.

Returning to the lodge, the afternoon is yours to relax, unwind and enjoy a drink or two in the open air lounge.

A relaxing morning, following breakfast we will visit the northern end of the park and hike into Echidna Chasm.  Following lunch, we head to Kununurra, stopping into Molly Springs for a refreshing swim. Once in town, we will check into your evening accommodation.

Our final day together (a sad day!) will be spent exploring Kununurra and surrounds, visiting Ivanhoe Crossing, the Hoochery Distillery and Sandalwood Factory. Depending on your return flight schedule to either Darwin or Broome, we will bid farewell at the airport. Alternatively, we can arrange additional days in Kununurra or locations such as Far Away Bay or Berkeley River Lodge.
